Graduates

Will I have to move around during the Programme?

All graduate trainees should be prepared to move within the UK and sometimes overseas to get the most from the development opportunities we provide. Placements vary according to the individual streams however the majority operate three placements over the 2 years programme. (See individual programmes for placements durations and structures.)

Where am I likely to be located?

The majority of our placements will be situated within our Knightsbridge store, candidates should also be prepared to work within our other sites though, including our airports and warehouse sites.

Harrods Ltd reserves the right to transfer you to any department within Knightsbridge, Osterley, Harrods International or any other company within the Harrods group and to vary the hours and/or days of your work according to the needs of the business as a whole and/or the needs of your particular place of work.

What is the application process?

All applicants should submit their CVs online, through our Harrods career website. Your application will be processed completely online, you maybe asked to complete a small questionnaire during your application.

I only achieved a 2.2, what are my options?

We ideally look for a 2.1 or above, but we also take into account recent retail work experience.

Are work placements available at Harrods?

We offer sandwich placements for under-graduates wishing to take a year out during their course.

Are Summer Internships available at Harrods?

At present we do not have any Summer Internships at Harrods. However, this is an area we are exploring, so please review our Graduates pages and jobs regularly.

We do throughout the summer period, however, look for a large number of temporary staff, which gives a great insight into working within Harrods.

I am not a graduate and I don't have A-Levels?

Our graduate scheme is aimed at candidates that have recently qualified from University with a degree. Unfortunately if you do not have this qualification then you will not qualify. However, you can apply for any other role through our careers website.

When is the latest I can apply?

Applications close at the end of January each year.

Will Harrods apply for a work permit for me?

No.

When can I start?

The graduate placement starts at the beginning of September each year.

Can I defer my offer?

No, your placement offer is for the current year only.

Can I re-apply if I have applied before?

If you are declined from a graduate placement role, you can re-apply for the placement the following year. However, we would prefer candidates to have graduated within a maximum of 3 years from their course.

Will I receive feedback on my application?

Due to the number of applications we received, we are unable to give direct feedback to everyone.

How can I find out about the progress of my application once I have submitted it online?

By logging back onto our careers website, you can track the status of your application.

Lateral hires

Where will the positions be located?

The majority of our positions are located within the Knightbridge store or offices. However, we have a distribution centre at Osterley and our Harrods stores within Gatwick and Heathrow Airports.

What is the selection process?

Depending on the role you apply for the selection process with incorporate various aspects. For all Sales Associate and Retail Manager roles, you will receive a short telephone discussion with the recruitment team, and then be invited to attend an assessment centre, followed by a line manger interview.

For Head Office roles you will receive a short telephone discussion with the recruitment team, followed directly by line manager interviews.

Please note that all candidates being offered a job at Harrods will be expected to complete a medical, before joining.

What checks will be undertaken if I am successful for a role?

Successful candidates will undertake credit and reference checks.

I have a criminal record - will this stop me working for Harrods?

Each case will be looked at individually, but as long as you are open and honest with us, then we will look into each case and measure each one in isolation.

How can I apply?

When can I apply?

All advertised roles are available immediately or as specified in the advert.

Can I apply to more than one of the advertised roles with Harrods?

Yes, however your initial application will be reviewed for all relevant roles matched against your background and experience. NOTE: high numbers of multiple applications across a variation of roles may not be viewed positively.

I've worked for Harrods before - can I reapply?

You can re-apply through the website, please state on there that you have worked for us previously.

I've applied before - can I reapply?

All candidates may re-apply for roles, three months after their last contact with Harrods.

What are my expected working hours?

The shop floor basic hours of work will be 37.5 per week, worked over 5 days out of the 7. Your hours will be on a shift rota basis. As our roles cover both entry level and management positions, the hours of work will vary accordingly and will be either detailed on the job advert or during your initial telephone discussions.

Do I have to be eligible to work in the UK to apply?

Yes.
