Harrods has been located in Knightsbridge since 1849, when founder Charles Henry Harrod moved his business to the area from East London. Today, Harrods is one of the world’s few single-site department stores and covers over five acres of space along the Brompton Road. However, as the business continues to grow, our selling support teams have moved further afield.
We now have new offices in Hammersmith and our distribution centre in Thatcham. Similarly, as our airport boutiques expand, we now have beautiful locations in London Heathrow and Gatwick. Despite being at a distance from the heart of the business, our other locations are an extension of our iconic store.
A British landmark known throughout the world for first class service, the store is a building rich in history and provides the perfect backdrop for the retail theatre for which we are so famous. It is a hub of activity which encompasses our identity.
Located in the heart of Knightsbridge, employees are centre stage in in one of London’s most beautiful areas and can enjoy local amenities as well as our newly refurbished Staff Food Court. By far one of the most coveted locations to work at, our Knightsbridge store offers our employees a vibrant workplace that is constantly evolving.
Two towers and eight floors of modern office space are home to our Creative, Buying and Merchandising, IT, Finance, Ecommerce and HR teams. Situated in a prime position between Hammersmith and Olympia, our new offices provide an impressive business environment.
Thanks to expansive windows and striking architectural open-plan design, the work space is flooded with natural light and the surrounding area offers an abundance of amenities. Our Hammersmith offices are just a short walk from the Overground, Piccadilly and District lines.
In 2012, our state-of-the-art distribution centre relocated to Mill Lane, Thatcham, West Berkshire. The site receives luxury merchandise from all over the world and services the Knightsbridge store, the airport boutiques and expanding ecommerce operations.
A key part of our growth strategy is to prepare the supply chain for the future; as a result Thatcham’s operations are slick, smooth and of the highest standards. With automated processing, low bay areas, a modern mini-load system and brand new warehousing vehicles, our Distribution team ensures a continuous process.
So our international customers can have a taste of Harrods, we now have stores in Heathrow Terminals 1, 3, 4, and 5, as well as both Gatwick North and South terminals. Our outlets capture the essence of what makes us unique, displaying a snapshot of our most popular products.
Our customers expect service that is both luxurious and attentive, but also rapid and efficient, before boarding their flights. Whether it’s 2am or 9pm, customers will be browsing our products. We aim for our customers to depart to their destinations not just with physical souvenirs, but also the memory of our spectacular service.
