Hannah - Retail Manager
It's amazing working in London, in such an amazing department store.
Questions we asked Hannah:
Can you describe a typical day?
"A typical day ranges. Every day's a little bit different, but generally it would be team motivation, driving sales on the shop floor, organising training, paperwork - it's quite different each day."
Why Harrods?
"I'd visited Harrods on a few occasions when I was younger, more in a tourist capacity, coming over from Australia. What struck me the most about the store was that it was more like a shopping experience - it wasn't just a regular shopping trip. So everything from the customer service, the stock that they had, the amazing products to the actual store itself were really impressive. So when I did eventually move over two years ago to work in retail it was without a doubt where I wanted to work."
How about the career opportunities?
"The career opportunities at Harrods are definitely unique to Harrods. For example at the moment I'm on the Harrods management programme, which is an eight month programme that gives you the necessary training to become a manager. So by the end of the eight months you'll become a retail manager in the store."
What makes it special for you?
"It's amazing working in London, in such an amazing department store, and meeting so many different customers from all different parts of the world, and being able to give them the Harrods experience that I received when I first came over."
Is there a typical Harrods person?
"The Harrods type of person would be someone that's very friendly, very motivated - a 'go-getter' sort of person - someone that's really willing to learn and driven to succeed."
Is Harrods the place for me?
"I'd say definitely go for it. You've chosen the right company, and your career opportunities will be endless - so go for it."
