Meet Dominic- HR Business Analyst

Dominic is our HR Business Analyst and he tells us what it is like to carry out his role.

What’s your role and how do you contribute to the business?

My role is to provide analysis and insight from our data to help the company make operational and financial decisions. My main focus is on people data, looking at how we manage and reward our employees, and it is my job to extract and analyse the information and to communicate it effectively to the business.

What are the most challenging aspects of your role?

I am often working on a number of different projects at the same time, which means I have to juggle competing priorities and deadlines. It can sometimes be challenging to keep on top of everything and not to let deadlines slip, but the reward of seeing my work have a real impact on the business justifies the effort.

Use 3 words to describe what you need to be successful in your job?

Inquisitive, open-minded, and detailed. My role requires both an eye for detail and the ability to see the wider context. You have to be able to take complex data and translate it in a way that can be used by the business, and you need to be reactive to feedback and open to new ideas.

Why would someone want to work in your team?

The nature of our team means that we get to work with a wide range of people throughout the business. A single project may have input from directors, HR, Finance, IT, and external companies, which means you are constantly given a fresh perspective and hearing new ideas.

"You never stop learning about the business, and you are constantly being challenged to develop your knowledge and skills."

What has been your best moment since joining Harrods?

Harrods has a number of excellent recognition programmes that show how we value our employees, and I was very proud to receive the Harrods Award for Excellence during my time working in HR. The award is a way for employees to recognise the efforts of their colleagues, and being treated to an award ceremony made me feel like a celebrity for a night.

Why Harrods?

Harrods is a household name and is recognised worldwide as the number one luxury retailer. The store is constantly innovating whilst being careful to maintain its famous heritage, which makes for an exciting workplace. Harrods invests in its people and has excellent development opportunities, and is always judged to be among the top places to work.
