Locked Down at Harrods

Once our doors closed for the day our Knightsbridge store transformed into the ultimate film set for the filming of Locked Down; a tale of resilience with a healthy dose of humour starring none other than Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Lots of colleagues from all areas of the business were involved in the Locked Down filming. From runners to extras we caught up with them to get the low down on filming for Locked Down.
“I really enjoyed taking part in the Locked Down project, not only because it enabled me to see how Hollywood movies are made or what it’s like to be an extra, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting colleagues from across the business and hearing about their day to day. From Retail Assistants, Personal Shoppers to Internal Communications Assistants it made me realise just how vast and varied our workforce is and how much knowledge is needed across the board to keep the Harrods machine rolling. Oh yes, I also got to talk about pretzels with Anne Hathaway (or Annie as we call her behind the scenes). What a great memory.“
Wayne, Food Safety Manager

“Coming into the store to film felt like a second first day at work for me. I have been working from home since March. The store at night is so beautiful and it was great to see all safety measures in place to make sure our colleagues and customers are kept safe. Initially, I was very nervous about filming, I had a speaking role – where I am sharing a couple of lines – totally out of my comfort zone. When I arrived, I was greeted by familiar friendly faces and I was made to feel at ease by the film crew, all those nerves quickly disappeared. I had so much fun during the filming, and I couldn’t believe how quickly five hours went by! And to top it off I spoke to Chiwetel – we exchanged beard grooming tips!”
Errol, Customer Operations Strategy Manager

“Well, what an amazing opportunity to be part of a once in a lifetime opportunity. I was responsible for the fire, health, and safety briefings, as well as being a runner, with our amazing Marcomms team. My highlights include working with colleagues across the business, it’s always nice to meet new people.  The second meeting Anne Hathaway and Mark Gatiss from A League of Gentleman TV series. I was lucky enough to speak to him and share a little about Harrods History. It was such a great experience, can’t wait to watch the film.”
