UNIQUELY YOU TOGETHER HARRODS

Straight out of School: Maisie

My name is Maisie, I joined our Harrods family in September 2018 on the School Leaver Programme. Our School Leaver programme consists of three different shop-floor placements which last for six months each. During each placement, you are exposed to how different departments and divisions differ across the business, and the skillsets required to ensure we always deliver exceptional customer service. I started my first placement in Luxury Accessories, followed by Baby Layette and my final placement was Sportswear. When in my final placement I knew it wasn't for me so after looking for other positions in the business I interviewed for Toy Stylist to be on the Toy Concierge team and was successful in my application.

The School Leaver Programme provides you with the opportunity to build on your knowledge of retail, and understand more about how our store operates. Every conceivable skillset is found within Harrods and as an employee, you work with our masters of luxury. I have always worked in retail and absolutely love interacting with customers. I knew the School Leaver Programme was for me as I really wanted to progress and enhance my skillset in retail. When I on-boarded for the programme, I was pleasantly surprised by the training and development you get. Each placement is unique and requires different skills. You get to learn lots about getting to know your customer and how to personalise their shopping experience.

You also learn all that happens behind the scenes, everyone plays such an important part in creating magic. It’s a privilege to be able to work and get to the know the wider Harrods family; some past delegates have been made their way into different departments.  There’s always someone on hand to answer your questions. I love it so much, that I commute from Coventry!
