Why Harrods?

Life at Harrods

As one of the world’s most prestigious brands, and a highly sought-after employer within luxury retail, we aim to provide a working environment in which we can exceed both our customers’ expectations and the expectations of each other.

Our promise

To maintain our high standards, we invest as heavily in our people as we do in our products and store. As well as offering an unforgettable experience for our customers, we offer an exciting, challenging and motivating environment for our employees. We demonstrate how we value our team through an extensive pay and benefits package, as well as through a number of programmes that reward and recognise employees for exceptional performance. Our employees can also accelerate their careers through opportunities to work with talented people, development training, and chances to raise their profile in the luxury retail sector.

"We want Harrods to be as great a place to work for our employees as well as a great place to shop for our customers."

Although we take what we do seriously, we don’t take ourselves too seriously; and although we work hard, we like to have fun, too. We’re a friendly and sociable bunch, with many ways for employees to connect, network, celebrate, give back to the community and more.

What it’s like working at Harrods?

In total, more than 10,000 employees work across our Thatcham distribution centre, Hammersmith head office, Heathrow and Gatwick retail boutiques, and Knightsbridge store. This is made up of 5,000 people who work directly for Harrods, with a further 5,000 employed in our brand concessions. Our employees are as diverse as our customer base, with more than 100 nationalities represented.

“For us, it is about finding those with the right experience and true passion for a career at Harrods. Joining Harrods is like joining a family”

From our exceptional selling staff and expert buyers, to the skilled chefs and Harrods attendants famously known as Green Men, everything our employees do is dedicated to providing an exceptional service for our customers. We recently asked our employees to describe the working environment, and this is what they said: Harrods is “friendly, hard-working, professional, and challenging”. And when we asked how working here made them feel, they said: “proud, excited, motivated and rewarded”.

Our expectation

In return for providing a world-class working environment, we ask all employees to uphold the brand values and vision of Harrods. Above all, employees strive to exceed expectations in everything they do, which we sum up in the phrase: “Be Harrods”.

Is it for me?

There are a number of characteristics that successful Harrods employees share: they are described as “exceeders, service-focused, passionate, team players, committed, effective communicators, and resilient”. If you tick most – or all! – of these boxes, Harrods is where you should be.

What will you get in return?

To keep exceeding our customers’ expectations, we invest heavily in our people and working environment. The result is an exciting, challenging and rewarding place to work. We demonstrate how we value our employees through an extensive pay and benefits package, an array of development opportunities, a series of programmes that reward and recognise exceptional performance, and numerous opportunities to give back to the community
