About the Role
As an Ingredients Buyer at Harrods, you will drive the commercial strategy and supplier management for sourcing ingredients for our production and restaurant kitchens. Your role will focus on building strong supplier partnerships, delivering cost efficiencies, and ensuring consistent availability of ingredients to meet Harrods’ requirements. You will combine a strategic mindset with hands-on supplier management expertise to enhance our culinary operations.
Other responsibilities will include:
• Develop and execute an ingredients strategy aligned with business goals and financial targets.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and partners.
• Collaborate with buyers, developers, and chefs to create supply chains supporting Food Halls & Restaurants strategy.
• Continuously enhance knowledge of food products and supply chains to drive innovation.
• Demonstrate expertise in supplier management, cost control, quality, and safety.
• Lead supplier negotiations to secure high-quality products at the best cost.
• Support the Buying Manager in achieving financial KPIs like availability and waste reduction.
• Optimize sourcing processes for ongoing improvement.
• Contribute to the Restaurant development roadmap, including menu changes and openings.
• Establish and improve supplier SLAs, driving key performance metrics.
• Ensure seamless operations by collaborating with Warehouse & Distribution teams.
About You
You will have a strong proficiency in PC literacy, particularly in Word, Excel, and preferably SAP, and can leverage these tools to enhance operational efficiency. You’ll also have a strong customer service focus, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Outstanding time-management skills and the ability to multitask are essential, as is the flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
You will also have:
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong work ethic with a commitment to Harrods values.
• Strength in working independently with minimal supervision.
