Head of Food Safety & Technical

Here at Harrods we are currently recruiting for a Head of Technical and Food Safety to join our Food and Signature team.

About the Role

As Head of Technical and Food Safety you will ensure that all products sold by Harrods in the Food Halls, Restaurants, and Production Kitchens meet legal requirements, maintain safety standards, and consistently reflect high quality. You will provide leadership and direction to the technical and food safety team, collaborating with the leadership team to drive quality, innovation, and consistency across the business, whilst developing and championing a clear Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plan and values for the Foods division.

You will be promoting a positive food safety culture and overseeing the implementation of a comprehensive food safety strategy, ensuring compliance with food safety, legal standards, and brand integrity across HOL and concessions, including airports, restaurants, in-house production areas, storage, distribution centres and food halls.

You will also be:

• Accountable for leading the technologists and food safety specialists to develop a skilled, motivated and dedicated high performing team.
• Expected to communicate food safety standards to the team, monitor compliance, and address issues per company procedures.
• Conducting food hygiene and allergen management training across the business.
• Responsible for supplier approval and ongoing capability assessment through ongoing supplier management and risk assessment.
• Accountable for ensuring that the safety, legal and quality standards set for products as part of the development process and ensuring that safety, legal and quality standards are set for all products in line with timelines of the gate process.
• Responsible for the assessment of product suitability for international countries to ensure compliance with legal and religious requirements and the collating of supporting documentation.

About You

You will have extensive food safety experience, as well as technical. You’ll have led teams to ensure You will take pride in driving profitability by proactively identifying opportunities to increase sales and manage costs. Uphold the integrity of the Harrods brand through effective product and supplier approvals and ongoing supplier management.
