Our Store Development team are looking for a Lead Technical Services Manager to lead the delivery of complex, high-value engineering projects across our iconic estate.

About the Role 


In this role you will work closely with the Store Development Team to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of all building services systems and fire life safety systems across the Harrods Capital Works Programme.  


You will need to liaise closely with all Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Concessions, Facilities Management, Fire Office and IT teams within Harrods in implementing mechanical, electrical, public health systems and Fire Life Safety on projects from design and planning through to implementation and evaluation. 


You will operate across a diverse and high-value portfolio, overseeing significant capital investment programmes and supporting both business-as-usual works and large-scale transformations. You will focus across all the major projects for FM / Engineering and Fire and Security with a number of exciting projects on our roadmap.  


Your accountabilities will include: 


Operations:

  • Lead the delivery of multiple projects from inception through to completion, ensuring quality, compliance and adherence to programme and budget.
  • Manage and coordinate internal teams and external consultants across MEP, lighting and specialist systems.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (Engineering, IT, Fire, H&S, Security and Operations) to ensure project requirements are fully integrated.
  • Oversee design development, technical specifications, tendering and contractor performance.
  • Review and approve design proposals to ensure alignment with Harrods standards and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure effective project handover, including all documentation, O&M manuals and operational readiness.
  • Maintain compliance with Health & Safety regulations and the Harrods Technical Standards, including Golden Thread requirements.
  • Support long-term MEP strategy, including development of design standards and asset information systems (e.g. CAD/Revit).


Leadership, Training, Team Development:

  • Provide line management, coaching and support to team members and new starters.
  • Develop MEP knowledge across the wider Store Development team to enhance project delivery.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Take ownership of challenges, driving solutions and continuous improvement.

 

This role combines hands-on technical expertise with stakeholder management. It offers the opportunity to influence major projects and drive engineering excellence across a complex, live environment. 


About You 


You will be a proactive and technically strong project professional, confident in leading complex engineering projects and navigating a fast-moving, multi-stakeholder environment. Enjoy taking ownership, solving problems and bringing clarity to technical challenges. 
 

You will: 

  • Hold a Professional Membership – MCIOB, CIBSE or alike. 
  • Have 7+ years of MEP experience in a Senior Role. 
  • Bring a mechanical bias, alongside a solid understanding of electrical and public health systems. 
  • Be confident managing consultants, contractors and multiple stakeholders simultaneously. 
  • Professionally qualified in construction with an engineering related degree, HND or equivalent with a clear understanding of the principles of good design.    
  • Practically experienced in construction and project management from inception to completion  
  • Highly organised with strong analytical skills  
  • A team player with a desire for excellence  
  • Willingness for occasional travel to other sites as required.
