“My name is Harriet Black. I work in the Financial Planning and Analysis team. I grew up in Derby, a city in the middle of Nottingham. It is a culturally diverse city. I am 5 ft8, and I've been 5 ft8 since I was about 12. And when I was at school, I had a big afro. So this tall loud black girl was a bit of an awkward thumb, and it was difficult to just kind of find out where I fit in. I don't feel like I'm that sore thumb anymore, which is fantastic. The most important thing in my life now is to make sure that the feeling of belonging is important to everyone, especially in the workplace, it makes everything so much easier.”
