Application Developer

Harrods is looking for an Application Developer who has a good understanding of .NET and SQL to join the Digital Technology Development team. You will be working within a team who embrace the DevOps way of working and are encouraged to influence the wider team by strong inter and cross team collaboration.

About you

You must have a passion for new technology and industry trends, have clear communication skills and be team player who strives for continuous improvement of and within the team.

You’ll be an experienced developer with API development experience using C#, knowledge of .NET and .NET Core architecture and development, with a least a basic understanding of one or more of ADO.NET, LINQ, Entity Framework and Entity Framework Core. You’ll require experience of building applications and working with non-relational databases as well as a working knowledge Agile Kanban and Scrum processes. Accreditation in Microsoft and experience of Azure DevOps/ Azure platform would be advantageous to your application.

You’ll have an awareness of best practices in coding, testing and deployment and experience in developing and executing unit tests to ensure and maintain code quality. Ultimately, you’ll be a clear communicator and a team player, striving for continuous improvement of and within the team and driving forwards the DevOps Culture.

What to expect

You will join an established and collaborative development team working in an Agile environment, responsible for the design, development and support of a range of in-house Services, SQL databases, warehouses, SQL-based applications and BI Structures. You’ll be responsible for designing and building creative end-to-end solutions in collaboration with other developers and technical teams, maintaining high performance, security and scalability. 

You’ll write highly performant and secure code and data structures that will be documented, continuously tested, deployed and performed at scale. You’ll Continue the work transitioning the more legacy areas of our estate toward a Service-Oriented Architecture, micro-services, and the continued adoption of CI/CD within our large SQL based estate.

 You’ll proactively participate in developing and maintaining team standards, tools and best practices, plus contribute to the technical direction of the team, as well as participating  in the weekly on call rota acting as an escalation point for the Digital DevOps Engineers.
