We are recruiting for a Buyer to join our Tech and Toys team on a Fixed Term Contract until July 2024.
About the Role
As the Buyer for Tech and Toys, you will proactively manage the development of the brand and product proposition through the team to ensure the brand strategy is achieved across all omnichannels and operational models.
This role covers Tech and Toys, both Knightsbridge and online – with a mix of own bought and concession brands. You will work alongside the Buying Manager to drive and implement the strategy for the area.
Your duties will include:
- Demonstrating a deep understanding of the business and category, identifying opportunities to add value.
- Developing the overall brand and product strategy of the department, ensuring all decisions are commercially sound and ultimately drive trade and improve customer experience.
- Planning and selecting product according to customer demand, trends, budget, and divisional strategy across channels and locations.
- Working closely with the concession partners to ensure the product offer is aligned to Harrods’ strategy and, wherever, possible exclusive product is included in the range.
- Attending buying appointments to select product and quantify orders using sales and sell though analysis.
- Negotiating terms with brands including trading terms, online terms, RTVs, marketing spend, delivery, exclusivity, etc.
About You
The ideal candidate will be an established Assistant Buyer, ready for your first Buyer role, or a Buyer looking to expand their horizons in a new category. You will be commercially minded and process driven whilst being an inspiring leader, who is able to bring your team on the journey. You will also be highly organised, in on the detail with a creative flair. You will either have experience as a Technology Buyer or a Toys Buyer - either way you will be well versed in the Buying cycle for own bought and concession brands.
