DevOps Engineer

Harrods, the world's most famous department store, is looking for a talented, driven and experienced DevOps Engineer to join the Digital Technology Team. You will be responsible for providing support for Digital technology projects and wider IT systems and associated applications.

As the DevOps Engineer, you will support all day-to-day operational activities while working hands on as part of the team. Additionally, working closely with the other functions within Digital Technology, you will be aligned with the overall development lifecycle to support the delivery of new functionality/Projects in the most effective way possible.

Harrods’ IT comprises of a broad and tailored offering to support out our luxury store in Knightsbridge, London and our Harrods.com website, as well as our wider Retail, Sales, Buying, Distribution, Fulfilment and Corporate functions.  Our IT offering is supported by a mix of in-house technology and 3rd party partnerships, our success if defined by our integrated and united approach to a full IT operation.

This is an exciting time for our DevOps team, s rand will offer unique experience to the successor in scripting, pipelines and CI/CD through a series of projects, and planned works. Namely, we have procured a tool for infrastructure as code an now look to design and implement across web applications and mobile apps predominantly in Azure. In this exciting role you will work with Agile principles and an ITIL framework to design and deliver the application stack from the project to BAU with continued support.

About You

You will need to collaborate with a variety of different teams across the Harrods business, including the wider IT function, plus a range of third-party technology partners to ensure seamless service. Good attention to detail is important so that you maintain high standards in delivering a robust & reliable service to our customers and business.

The successful candidate must have hands-on experience in cloud technologies, particularly the Azure platform, deploying highly available, scalable, and resilient applications. Additionally, Web, Mobile, Cloud and Enterprise Operations experience in a digital or retail environment is key. The following skills are also essential:

• Experience with Website and Mobile application monitoring & performance tooling including RUM and Synthetic.
• Hands-On Experience with Release and deployment tooling – CI/CD Pipelines (ideally using Azure DevOps)
• Scripting languages such PowerShell, YAML, Python, Pulumi or Terraform to write I.a.C.
• Knowledge of Application security & OWASP Guidelines (WAF, Bot Management, Security/Code Scanning).
• Knowledge of Implementing and Managing CDN and website performance optimisations.
• Knowledge of database maintenance, administration, and performance optimisation concepts
• Knowledge of networking principles (DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing etc.)
• Experience in delivering in an Agile, SCRUM or Kanban methodology.
• ITIL or ISO27001 experience.
• Experience of Linux, Apache, Windows Server, IIS, MSSQL, SSIS, SSRS.
• Experience of recording and analysing data from Synthetic tests, RUM and W3C metrics.
