Our Facilities and Engineering team are now looking for an Assistant Engineering Manager (Contracts & Remotes) to join us on a fixed term basis until 31st December 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to support the contribution to the management of contracts within our iconic Knightsbridge store and other remote sites. You will help to ensure our buildings are safe, compliant and well maintained, working closely with service partners and colleagues to deliver an exceptional experience for everyone who steps into a Harrods space. 


About the Role 

You will be working 5 days over 7 mainly Monday-Friday but 1 in 6 weekends, due to being part of the management rota. You will be predominantly based in Knightsbridge but working on projects/contracts across our other sites. There may also be some adhoc travel to other Harrods locations. 

As Assistant Engineering Manager, you will oversee service partners, repair and project works, and maintaining compliance across all sites. You will also play a key part in driving a culture of high performance across our engineering and maintenance operations. 

Day to day, you will: 

  • Support project planning and execution, from inception to completion, ensuring asset management processes and due diligence are followed. 
  • Assist with compliance reviews, inspections and audits across engineering, building fabric and cleaning services, resolving issues quickly and effectively. 
  • Help manage both routine and emergency repair work, ensuring timely and efficient completion. 
  • Contribute to delivering a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing issues promptly and maintaining service excellence. 
  • Act as a point of contact for colleagues, third party contractors and building occupants on all engineering, maintenance and cleaning matters. 
  • Oversea budgeting and financial reporting, raising purchase orders and approving invoices as required. 
  • Integrate with minor and asset improvement work streams, supporting logistics, planning, execution and sign offs. 


About You 


You will be a proactive and detail-oriented individual, able to balance technical expertise with strong organisational and interpersonal skills. With at least 3 to 5 years’ experience in building services and a minimum of one year in a supervisory role, you will bring both technical knowledge and the ability to support and influence others in a fast-moving environment.  

You will also: 

  • Bring experience from working in a Facilities environment. 
  • Bring knowledge of building services, with additional experience in areas such as lifts, escalators, catering equipment or building fabric works being an advantage. 
  • Have excellent communication skills, confident in liaising with both internal stakeholders and external service partners at all levels. 
  • Be calm under pressure with strong problem-solving ability and sound judgement. 
  • Be able to work on your own initiative, adapting to shifting priorities while remaining focused on results. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, influence and support others to achieve high standards. 
  • Lead by example, promoting Harrods values and ensuring best practice across all operations.
