Lead Data Analyst

We are seeking a Lead Data Analyst to join our IT function at this exciting time to be responsible for developing and delivering our data architecture business wide and build bespoke solutions to enable better data decisioning for the business through the use of strategic structuring of our data sources. You will play a dynamic role, translating data insights into real business actions.

Whilst this role is primarily based in Hammersmith, the role will require some time in Knightsbridge and may require some travel to other Harrods office locations.

About you

You will be a seasoned Data subject matter specialist, accustomed to partnering with technical and non-technical colleagues to understand business requirements of data architecture and deliver practical solutions to improve the accessibility and business impact of our data resources in line with business objectives.

Problem solving and analytical skills are key to the role.  You must be able to conduct fast prototyping of possible data models, root out potential causes and then test possible solutions. The Hybrid nature of your role will also demand that you be able to support conclusions with factual evidence, through analytical methods combined with business acumen.

You’ll require a working knowledge of data modelling and database fundamentals, be able to execute database queries and work with others when performing analysis, as well as optimizing data structures and reports for speed.  You’ll have working experience of MS Power BI or a similar business intelligence tool (IBM Cognos, Tableau, QlikView); Power Query; DAX; MS SQL, My SQL; SPSS.  Experience in STATA; MATLAB would be advantageous.

What to expect

This is a management role leveraging best practices in Data Analytics, as the Lead Data Analyst, you will own the delivery of accessible and cohesive data for the business and will roadmap data insights. You’ll be adept to working with a variety of technologies to improve the agility of data.  In this role you will define and deliver strategy for data insights through the assessment of business requirements knowledge of data architecture.

The Data Analyst will be a key contributor to the Analytics Team, teaming up with the data science, BI & reporting and insight teams to create and deliver insights through data analysis.

You will support business stakeholders to formulate their problem statements, by asking the right questions to expose and articulate the business challenge they seek to address. Equally you will gather, analyze and summarize information of multiple types and feel comfortable with finding your way through structured and unstructured data.

You’ll lead and develop a data analyst to deliver business critical data insight that is intuitive and accessible to the business for interrogation. You will develop and mature the Data Analytics team through the implementation of Team SLA’s and KPIs to ensure an effective and consistent delivery.

The role also collaborates with business stakeholders and thus must be an effective communicator capable of delivering insights to non-technical audience.  You will work closely and manage expectations from business users/stakeholders to ensure the insights are delivered in an accessible, logical way.
