Senior Database Developer

Our Data Analytics Department is a newly established function, this is a very exciting time for the team who have been united to develop our data centre with a particular focus in pursuit moving to BW/4Hana. We are looking to recruit a Senior Database Developer as part of this newly formed department to drive creation, development, and implementation of data infrastructure and pipelines that collect, connect, centralize, and curate data from various internal and external data sources. 

About you

You will be a seasoned Senior Database Developer with experience working within a dynamic and complex business setting. You will have proven and successful experience working with systems and data infrastructures at scale and hands on experience in building scalable data services and systems. You’ll have a relevant degree, BSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or equivalent. You’ll be versed in working as part of an Agile delivery team, using methodologies like Scrum and Kanban will be beneficial. In this role you will require in-depth knowledge of SQL Server and other database solutions. You’ll need experience of DevOps/Git repository code promotion and change management experience including experience of using CI/CD techniques and processes in Azure DevOps. Expertise in with SDI (SAP) and SDA (SAP) and experience of programming languages (Python / R). 

You’ll be a passionate subject matter expert, with notable experiences of exporting from SQL and exporting to BW/4Hana in previous positions. You’ll be accustomed to working across projects as a BW/4Hana and Database development lead, guiding others in collaborative delivery of work. You’ll have experience across SAP Hana in business as usual work as well as offering unique expertise in projects.

You’ll have hands-on experience in database administration, custom ETL design, implementation and maintenance, as well as experience with schema design, data architecture, data modelling and data warehousing. You’ll be accustomed to training and mentoring peers with insight and experience of influencing and growing the business data footprint. 

What to expect

In this dynamic role you will work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs. The role requires a high degree of independence, while also being in partnership with Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Analysts and Information Management and Technology experts.

In this role you will manipulate and analyse complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources using a variety of tools and data analysis techniques. As the Senior Database Developer, you will develop & maintain the data pipeline to build interactive and curated data to drive business insights through tailored and intuitive data science, reporting & analytics.
