Our IT department work collaboratively to innovate our business, in light of new growth and development of our IT function, we are looking for The Solution Architect to deliver effective solutions that align to the technology roadmap, business direction and objectives.

About you

You’ll be an experienced IT Architect, accustomed to problem solving with the business to propose realistic, logical and quality solutions. You’ll be practised in identifying core problems and establishing priorities, able to lead and influence stakeholders at all levels to build solutions that are aligned to collective objectives and goals. You’ll have well developed team leadership skills, able to coach, knowledge share and promote cross training as a culture.You’ll have experience of collaborating the peers within PMO, Business Analysts, Business Relationship Managers and other IT Architects on business developments in software development, package implementations and infrastructure upgrades or changes. You’ll be able to see beyond the parameters of a single project to identify patterns, risks, trends and strategic context more broadly within the organisation to ultimately deliver high level architecture and input into the demand management process.

What to expect

The Solution Architect supports the definition and implementation of strategies, principles, and standards for architecture and contributes to the 3 -5 year technology roadmap. Working alongside the Business Relationship Managers, this role will interact with key business and IT stakeholders to deliver effective solutions that align to the technology roadmap, business direction and objectives.

The Solution Architect may work across the different domains (Customer, Corporate & Product) and will be accountable for delivering the solution architecture for individual projects and programmes. This role will contribute to setting and evolving working practices, standards and quality of architecture for Harrods IT and ensuring that architecture is coherent, secure and takes a holistic view.

To be successful, the Solution Architect needs to have an understanding across all facets of architecture to provide quality insight to the team’s work while still being able to grasp the priorities and challenges of the core business. As a leader and technical specialist, the Solution Architect will be a representative of the team within the broader IT function and within the organisation as a whole. As such they will require an understanding of both our business and our technology and be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
