We are recruiting for a Specification Technologist to join our Food Safety team and support our Fresh department by playing a key role in creating accurate, gold‑standard product specifications that help ensure our products are safe, legal, and aligned with Harrods Brand Standards.

About the Role

As a Specification Technologist, you will be responsible for generating, maintaining, and delivering thorough product specifications within required timeframes, supporting the Stage Gate process and ensuring all information meets safety, legal, and quality expectations. Working closely with suppliers, technologists, chefs, and commercial teams, you’ll ensure specifications are accurate, robust, and kept fully up to date throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting suppliers in compiling, editing, and maintaining high‑quality ingredient, packaging, and product specifications.
  • Ensuring all specifications are delivered within critical path timelines and accurately reflect products at final submission.
  • Reviewing and approving supplier-submitted specifications while maintaining a “right‑first‑time” approach.
  • Working closely with the QADEX team, becoming the subject matter expert on the specification system and resolving supplier queries.
  • Liaising across technical, culinary, and commercial teams to gather data, ensure legal compliance, and maintain accurate information for labelling and product launch.

Depending on your role, you may be fully on-site or have a mix of on-site and home working – this is what we refer to as ‘Hybrid’. Our hybrid working policy allows colleagues to work from home for part of the week, with a minimum of three days on-site, depending on business needs.

Please see our Hybrid@Harrods policy on our Career Site for more information or speak to a member of our Talent Acquisition team if you have any questions regarding the requirements for this role.

About You

In this role, you will bring strong attention to detail, a proactive approach, and the confidence to collaborate with colleagues and suppliers across the business. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, adapting quickly as deadlines or project needs shift, and using your technical and legislative knowledge to support safe, compliant product development. You’ll thrive in a fast‑paced environment, enjoy problem‑solving, and take pride in delivering excellent work that supports our Gold Standard expectations.

You will bring:

  • Experience with specification writing, reviewing, and specification management systems.
  • Knowledge of food legislation, allergens, and labelling requirements, including FIR and Natasha’s Law.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience and a Degree within Food Safety or a relevant field.
  • Strong communication, organisational skills, and confidence working with multiple data sources and stakeholders.
