We are looking for Commis Chefs and Chefs De Partie to join our new apprenticeship program at Harrods and work at the heart of the action in the kitchen of one of our Restaurants.

There’s a real buzz in every Harrods’ kitchen. In this role, you will learn the preparation and cooking of all fresh ingredients on site. This will include meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, breakfast, banqueting and desserts. You will learn basic kitchen skills and in addition learn about food hygiene, health and safety, storage and cleaning. Shine, and we’ll help you build a brilliant catering career.

We have partnered with Westminster Kingsway College that has an excellent reputation within the hospitality and catering industry. The Hospitality school offers a unique opportunity to study for apprenticeships that are tailored direct to industry requirements. The College is recognised as one of the leading providers of training in London and has been accredited with the Training Quality Standard. The Hospitality School is a member of two National Skills Academies for Hospitality and Food & Drink Manufacturing.

About you

In this exciting opportunity, you will receive on the job training four days a week and one day a week at Westminster Kingsway College. The training will have a duration of 12 months followed by 3 months end point assessment.

This is a hands-on position. You’ll have previous experience working in a kitchen and you’ll be able to demonstrate a strong interest in food - preparing and cooking ingredients.

More specifically, we’re looking for someone with:

  • Excellent personal presentation
  • Reliable
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Flexible to the needs of the job/industry
  • Willing to learn
  • GCSE English and Maths grades A-D / 3-9 (or equivalent)
  • GCSE Cookery/Food Tech desirable
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Motivation is key

Remember you will be on your feet all day! You will be working in a hot and busy kitchen. You will work a rota which may require you to work weekends and evenings. Please research location and consider your commute in terms of time and cost prior to applying for the role.
