About you

What to expect

The Buying Manager will support the Director of Accessories, Fine Jewellery and Fine Watches in delivering their strategic vision for the Accessories department at Harrods. They will commercially drive the business across all omni channel’s (store, online and airports) and both operational models (own buy and concession).

Having worked with the Director to set the strategy the role will be responsible for the management of the annual plan with the support of their team and other key stakeholders within Harrods.

The 5 principle accountabilities of the Buying Manager are merchandising planning, financials, brand relations, marketing and leadership.

The role will entail (but is not limited to):

  • Plan and select brands and product according to customer demand, trends, budget and Directorate strategy
  • Drive gross sales and net contribution; create excitement through the introduction of innovative concepts, brands, vendors and product
  • Work with the Head of on setting budgets for areas of responsibility.
  • Analyse and interpret sales figures and trends to make business decisions.
  • Work closely with Merchandise Planners and Financial Analysts in production of periodic forecasts and financial planning
  • Develop and maintain brand relationships to ensure that Harrods is consistently presented with excellent market opportunities.
  • Ensure that there is a promotional calendar for areas of responsibility.
  • Work with the Buyers, Media, Marketing and Press to develop marketing and business opportunities
  • Promote personal development amongst team and conduct regular performance and talent reviews.
  • Work with their Buyers to develop their commercial acumen, market knowledge, range planning skills and ensure they have the ability to meet and exceed their targets
