As a Lead DBA, you’ll develop and maintain strategy and delivery road maps for the database environment.  You’ll plan, develop and cloud database platforms by applying engineering, hardware and software design theories and principles to develop and support a compatible system infrastructure in line with organisational strategy.

You’ll create roadmaps and align IT requirements to business’ needs by monitoring, controlling and communicating service delivery. You’ll be responsible for ensuring adoption of SMO, PMO, InfoSec standards and other governance practises across all areas. As a Team Lead, you’ll provide leadership and guidance as a key leader of the IT team.

Harrods’ IT comprises technologies that provide services to support our luxury store in Knightsbridge, London and our Harrods.com website, as well as our wider Retail, Sales, Buying, Distribution, Fulfilment and Corporate functions. Our IT offering is supported by a mix of in-house technology and 3rd party partnerships, our success if defined by our integrated and united approach to a full IT operation.

About You

You’ll be experienced in elevating team presence and interacting on projects across teams and communicating with senior leads. You’ll have a strong customer service focus when dealing with both internal and external parties and a flexibility to adapt to changing priorities. You’ll have excellent communication and time-management skills to develop strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

More specifically, we’re looking for someone with:

  • Working knowledge SQL HA/DR technology (WFC, Always On, mirroring).
  • Demonstrated experience in performance tuning and optimization techniques using native and third-party tools.
  • Experience maintaining a hybrid on-premises and Azure environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SQL internals, schemas, permissions, and partitions.
  • Knowledge of MS best practices for SQL server.
  • Knowledge of SDLC and server landscapes consisting of Development, QA, and Production environments.
  • Working knowledge of monitoring tools (SCOM, SQL Monitor).
  • Well versed in ITIL principals.
