Maintenance Operative (Roofing)

Our Maintenance department are recruiting a Maintenance Operative to join our team as a roofing specialist to maintain our iconic Knightsbridge store. This unique opportunity will work a shift pattern across any 5 of 7 days and be part of our in-house multi-trades maintenance department.

At Harrods, our iconic Knightsbridge building is as unique as the service experienced within. Our in-house facilities department have the important task of maintaining and servicing our store to ensure our customers have the full Harrods experience on each visit. 

About You

You will be an experienced Maintenance Operative with flat roofing expertise, including single membrane roofing. You will be certified in waterproofing systems and be a recognised credible expert through experience and relevant City & Guilds Qualifications or equivalent. You will also have qualifications/certifications in height access, machinery operation and management of hazardous substances as well as demonstrable experience of putting these skills into practise.

You will have good physical fitness as there will be some lifting and working on your feet in this role, operating in external rooftop spaces and hard to reach areas across our Knightsbridge store.

As a Maintenance Operative you will take responsibility for the general maintenance and upkeep of the external rooftop and terrace areas across Harrods Knightsbridge properties. This will include maintaining an asset register of all rooftop areas, and complete PPM works to maintain all areas to a high level of cleanliness and repair. You will report to the shift supervisor and/or Building Maintenance Manager any issues which impact the service delivery of the Maintenance Department.

You will ensure all roof gullies and drainage and guttering are free from debris and running away freely as well as manage and trace any leaks through the rooftop penetrations and membranes; and ensure repairs are completed promptly and within budget. You will ensure our store is maintained to standard and that all works carried out comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act together with Harrods’ risk and method statements, ultimately demonstrating point of service delivery to clients and stakeholders.
