We are looking to recruit a Principal Electrical Technician to set the standard as an electrical subject matter expert amongst our engineering and maintenance teams. This unique opportunity will work 4 days on 4 days off rolling rota at our Knightsbridge store with some flexibility. You will play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations and a seamless Harrods experience for all our customers. As a hands-on operative, you must have good physical fitness as there will be some lifting and working on step ladders in this role.

About You

As a recognised specialist you will be suitably qualified to a minimum City and Guilds 236 Electrical Installation Parts I and II. As our lead technical specialist, you will have the benefit of a breadth and depth of experience as a qualified Electrician as well as experience an Electrical Supervisor, accustomed to managing teams and projects. You’ll be fully conversant with all British standards and relevant regulations. You will require a BS 7671 18th Edition.

You’ll have demonstrable experience responding to critical incidents and reacting to a live site environment. You’ll be able to work to own initiative and cope with a pressurised work environment as well as motivating to others to work collaboratively and cohesively towards an end team goal. You’ll play a key role in advising the business on the best way to input maintenance and modernisation programmes as well and managing outsourced labour.

What to expect

As the Principal Electrical Technician, you will supervise and manage external contractors and a team of in house Engineers who will cover various associated duties across days and nights. Accountable for the planning, management and execution of the day to day operation and ensure that all of the Technician’s work is in line with industry best practice adhering to relevant Health and Safety Regulations and any other Legal requirements. Management of team performance and will be a key deliverable and where appropriate you will implement disciplinary and performance reviews for the relevant team in accordance with Harrods guidelines. You will also ensure you keep within budgetary constraints with regards to works costs and timescales for both in-house and external Contractors.

A natural coach, able to give technical support and complete ad-hoc works as required by the Senior Engineering Management Team. You will report all issues relating to the relevant shift to the Engineering and Building Services Senior Management Team, playing a key dynamo in connecting teams. You will control, monitor, and prioritise all work schedules, in accordance with the FM System procedures ensuring the section meet the Department wide KPI’s and SLA’s. You will also monitor all levels of output relating to external Contractors and in-house Engineers.
