We’re looking for an enthusiastic and commercially minded Assistant Buyer to support our Fresh Food division in delivering an outstanding product offer across all channels.

About the Role

As an Assistant Buyer, you’ll be integral to supporting the Buyer throughout the end-to-end buying cycle, ensuring the right product ranges are selected, launched, and performing to meet customer demand and business goals. You’ll work closely with vendors, internal teams, and external partners to maintain Harrods’ reputation for excellence within fresh food.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with product selection, order quantification, and maintaining accurate product information.
  • Attending buying appointments and preparing materials for brand meetings.
  • Monitoring sales performance, stock levels, and negotiating re-orders, swaps, and returns.
  • Conducting competitor and industry research to inform range planning and trend awareness.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches and seasonal campaigns.

Depending on your role, you may be fully on-site or have a mix of on-site and home working – this is what we refer to as ‘Hybrid’. Our hybrid working policy allows colleagues to work from home for part of the week, with a minimum of three days on-site, depending on business needs.

Please see our Hybrid@Harrods policy on our Career Site for more information or speak to a member of our Talent Acquisition team if you have any questions regarding the requirements for this role.

About You

You will bring energy, organisation, and a keen commercial eye to thrive in a fast-paced buying environment. Naturally curious about food and retail trends, you will combine analytical skills with creativity to help deliver a unique and customer-focused product offer. You’ll enjoy building strong relationships with both internal teams and external partners, and will be confident managing multiple priorities to support commercial success.

You must have:

  • Previous experience in buying, ideally within food, grocery, or luxury retail.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
