Our Food Safety & Technical team support our growing array of restaurants and our magnificent Food Halls, in our continued ambition to be one of the world’s leading food destinations. We’re now looking for a Packaging Technologist to join this fun, dynamic and talented team.

About The Role

As a Packaging Technologist, you’ll be supporting the food and creative team in developing new packaging concepts in line with, and ahead of, current and future recycle and sustainable trends. 

You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all Harrods packaging is consistently produced to an exceptional quality. You’ll keep up to date with technical and legal updates on packaging in the industry with the support of creative team, while managing existing legislation to ensure compliance at all times. In this role, part of your activities will include working with suppliers on the design of packaging and selection of materials to ensure functionality as well as food safety, quality and integrity.

You’ll also play a big part in the product development process by delivering technical aspects as well as managing packaging development and improvement projects, ensuring project briefs are SMART and developed according to a timeline while registering risk early, liaising with the Creative team, NPD, Buying Technical and suppliers.  

About You

A strong track record of food packaging development or related experience is a must. Ideally, you’ll also have knowledge of Food Packaging Safety Management systems, BRC IoP and specification management. Experience in packaging supplier auditing is also desirable. 

You’ll have great time-management skills and a strong customer focus when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll have good analytical skills and a good attention to detail. Having good PC literacy is a must (Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel).
