Buyer

We are recruiting for a Deli Buyer to join our team here at Harrods on a Permanent contract. This role calls for a real product expert, who not only understands the flavour profiles across a luxury Deli range but is passionate about bringing said produce to our Harrods’ customers.

About the Role

As the Deli Buyer, your key focus will be to drive our Cheese, Charcuterie and Antipasti category forward. Your vision will be to deliver the best in class food across the range, at the lowest cost, working cross functionally with our internal teams and external stakeholders to bring this to life.

This role is a sole Buyer role, whilst you will have a shared resource for admin support, you will be solely responsible for the success of your category: both from a commercial standpoint as well as a delivering a wow factor for our customers.

In this role you will also be responsible for:

• End to end trading with sourcing, buying and selling products in the category.
• Performance analysis of the range and identify opportunities within the market.
• Identifying, on-boarding and managing brands operating within a concession model at Harrods.
• Minimal Wastage to be a key component to your success, with sustainability .
• Creating and delivering the category plan though the cross-functional team.
• Dealing with the very best products and relying on your specialist product and industry Influencing and supporting departmental and company success.

About You 

You will be an enthusiastic foodie, fascinated by trends within the industry. You will use your determination and commercial acumen to bring the best products into Harrods. We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating moments of delight for our Deli customers, ensuring we offer an unforgettable experience through your understanding of our customer shopping habits, flavour profiles and procurement skills.

You will have proven Buying experience within a food category, be it a supermarket or luxury department store you will have worked closely with suppliers and stakeholders to drive the success of your category. Ideally we would prefer somebody with a background in Deli Buying (Cheese, Charcuterie and Antipasti), though if your professional experience lies elsewhere in food, you will possess a good understanding of the Deli category through your studies or personal interests outside of work. You will be both proactive, with a solution based approach, able to adapt to  fast paced and dynamic environment.

• Experience in driving sales, owning P&L and a cross functional working style.
• Industry and commercial expertise.
• Category & range management experience.
• Expert negotiation skills.
