Our Harrods Tailoring team are now looking for a Quality Controller to join their highly skilled, values-led team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of luxury retail, ensuring our customers receive garments finished to the highest possible standard.
About the Role
As a Quality Controller, you’ll be responsible for overseeing garment alterations and ensuring every piece meets Harrods’ world-class standards before it reaches the shop floor. You’ll use your technical expertise to assess alterations, allocate garments to the appropriate tailor (in-house or externally), and maintain strong working relationships with our external tailoring partners.
You’ll also manage the completion rail, ensuring garments are returned to the sales floor in a timely manner, and support the training of sales teams to help them better understand tailoring processes. In addition, you’ll be able to step in and carry out fittings, basic and express alterations, or quality control checks across a wide variety of fabrics and garment types when required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing garments and allocating alterations to the correct tailor in-house or externally
- Performing detailed quality control checks to ensure garments meet Harrods standards
- Organising and tracking external alterations, managing paperwork, and building supplier relationships
- Coordinating the drop-off/completion rail for garments returning to the sales floor
- Providing technical advice and solutions to tailoring challenges
- Supporting the training of sales colleagues on tailoring processes and garment care
- When required, carrying out fittings and alterations across a variety of fabrics, including leather, fur, bias cut and technical fabrics
- Communicating effectively and thinking on your feet to resolve challenges quickly and professionally
This is a fully on-site role based in our Knightsbridge store.
About You
You’ll be an experienced tailoring professional with strong technical knowledge of garment construction, alterations and fittings. Calm under pressure and highly detail-focused, you’ll combine craftsmanship with excellent organisational skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
You will:
- Have advanced knowledge of tailoring and garment construction across both Menswear and Womenswear
- Be confident assessing alterations and performing quality control checks with precision
- Bring excellent communication skills, with the ability to train, advise and support colleagues
- Stay calm under pressure and think on your feet to resolve technical or customer challenges
- Be flexible, organised, and committed to delivering consistently high standards of workmanship
- Take pride in your craft and thrive in a fast-paced luxury environment
