Transport Team Leader

Our Thatcham Distribution centre is seeking a Team Leader to manage our drivers for trunking, transport and big ticket orders and support Senior Management by leading a team in the efficient and smooth onward flow of goods through the supply chain providing the level of service excellence that Harrods is renowned for.

Our Distribution centre boasts a busy and effective operation that ensures our customers receive the best experience regardless of the product of their location. Our team of drivers work to carefully manage the delivery of products and work with our warehouse operations teams in managing our stock management, storage, and distribution throughout its supply chain journey. As a Team Leader you will be instrumental in our team’s operational delivery working any 5 in 7 days on shift patterns between 7am-2pm and 3pm-10pm with ad hoc flexibility.

About You

We are really looking for:

·       An experienced warehouse worker and holder of HGV level 1 licence.

·       You will have experience of Heavy load driving and big-ticket stock management and distribution

·       Experience of managing other drivers

·       Ability to perform duties effectively with minimum supervision and guidance

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·       A reliable work ethic, well-organised approach with a team focus

·       Someone who understands and values exceptional service

·       Good PC literacy (experience of SAP would be an advantage)

·       Strong customer service focus, when dealing with both internal and external parties.

·       Flexible and willing to adapt to changing priorities.

·       Strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to Harrods values

What to expect

This is a hands-on role and issues are dealt with swiftly and decisively to ensure our strict delivery targets are met. You will support the Assistant Manager and wider senior management team to ensure KPIs and SLAs and met and to optimise the productivity and efficiency of the team. You will ensure that all team members attend the company induction program and adhere to company policies and procedures.

You will monitor the output and prioritise tasks in response to the demands of the business as well as organise daily breaks to ensure that there is optimum coverage at all times.

You will be responsible for maintaining high levels of Health and Safety awareness and report any areas of concern to the Line Manager immediately. You will also be accountable for regularly reviewing procedures for improvements in efficiency and working practices, and to make any recommendations to the Assistant Manager.
