 This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring health, safety, and compliance standards across our iconic Knightsbridge store. You’ll be part of a collaborative facilities team that champions a proactive safety culture and keeps Harrods audit-ready and operationally resilient. 


About the Role 

 
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of health, safety, and statutory compliance within the Facilities and Engineering department. Reporting to the Senior Facilities Manager, you’ll work closely with multiple teams to embed safe systems of work and deliver robust compliance processes. 


Key responsibilities include: 

  • Leading health and safety communications, including briefings, campaigns, and toolbox talks to engage and inform teams. 
  • Driving a proactive safety culture across all levels of the department, ensuring safety is embedded in day-to-day activity. 
  • Conducting audits and inspections across operational areas, implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement. 
  • Tracking and ensuring compliance across all facilities functions, including statutory, environmental, and operational requirements. 
  • Maintaining the department’s training matrix and ensuring mandatory training compliance. 
  • Partnering with managers to close out non-compliance and audit actions through clear accountability. 
  • Supporting the evolution of CAFM systems to deliver automated compliance reporting. 
  • Developing and reviewing departmental policies and procedures to align with best practice and legislation.

About You 

 
You will bring a strong working knowledge of health, safety, and facilities compliance within a complex, customer-facing environment. You’ll be confident influencing at all levels and passionate about embedding a proactive safety culture. 


You will: 

  • Be a natural influencer and coach, able to foster a culture of accountability and positive safety behaviours across all levels. 
  • Communicate effectively, delivering engaging toolbox talks, training sessions, and safety briefings to diverse audiences. 
  • Demonstrate resilience, tenacity, and emotional intelligence when leading through change or addressing performance challenges. 
  • Hold a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and IOSH membership (TechIOSH/GradIOSH/CMIOSH). 
  • Have experience in developing systems and reports to monitor compliance and risk, using data to drive decisions. 
  • Be confident using CAFM systems (such as Planon) and compliance registers, understanding how automation can improve efficiency. 
  • Be methodical, organised, and passionate about audit accuracy and continuous improvement. 
  • Enjoy sharing knowledge and empowering others to manage safety effectively within their teams. 
  • Show flexibility and dependability, adapting to operational needs including occasional early starts, late finishes, or weekend work.
