We are currently recruiting for a Finance Manager - Group Reporting & Technical to join our Finance team here at Harrods.

About the Role 

As Finance Manager - Group Reporting & Technical, your role is pivotal in driving the timely submission of the annual financial statements, as well as the monthly financial reporting of certain entities within our organisation.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the preparation of the statutory accounts of Harrods Limited, the consolidated accounts of Harrods Group (Holding) Limited and multiple holding companies.

You'll work alongside directors, department heads and finance professionals to ensure efficient monthly financial reporting and variance analysis in alignment with our business objectives. You will be accountable for managing multiple entities.

Finally, the role requires the production and ownership of technical accounting support (memos, etc) and balance sheet and cash flow analysis to the business. The role also has the remit to create and help manage a robust controls framework for the wider finance function. 

Other key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Manage day-to-day relationship with EY to ensure smooth running of the audit.
  • Ownership on the preparation of the financial statements of Harrods Limited (company that operates the Store and online business), the consolidated accounts of Harrods Group (Holding) Limited (the top UK Harrods company) and multiple holding companies, based on FRS102 accounting standards - using the Thomson Reuters Accounts Production Software.
  • Support in the collation of all the data required for the notes from the relevant parties.
  • Updating and review of the all the reports (Directors’ reports, Strategic reports, Accounting policies
  • Responsible for identification and resolution of technical accounting issues (e.g. annual impairment review, LTIP accounting, advising on accounting for financial instruments, new FRS Regulations (FRS adoption of IFRS 15 &16, new ESG standards, etc)
  • Creation and maintenance of a Group Accounting Policy manual and library of technical accounting papers.
  • Preparation and timely posting of monthly financial journals, ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict deadlines.
  • Conducting monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to maintain financial integrity of your own accounts, as well as overall ownership and accountability on the performance of balance sheet reconciliations by the entire finance community.
  • The role holder will be expected to help create a controls framework and assist the business with training on those requirements.
  • Communication with required business leaders (such as heads of function) is clear and they are sufficiently informed on deliverables and timelines for their teams
  • Review of the preparation of Harrods Estates Ltd client accounts – including daily rent invoicing, payment of invoices, HMRC NRL quarterly payments and annual return, monthly bank reconciliations, dealing with deposit interest and client queries.
  • Supporting with the business transition to SAP-S4/HANA.

About You 

You are a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with over 7 years of post-qualification experience, including a strong foundation from a Big-4 public accounting firm and/or UK-listed companies. Your expertise spans the full spectrum of financial reporting, from statutory financial statements and consolidation accounting (including consolidated cash flow statements) to technical accounting research and management accounts. You also bring proven leadership experience, having successfully managed multiple direct reports.

With an in-depth understanding of UK FRS and/or IFRS and their practical application, you are known for your meticulous attention to detail and high standards of accuracy. Your excellent PC literacy—particularly in Excel and preferably SAP (ideally SAP S4 Hana)—complements your ability to leverage financial applications for statutory reporting.
