Stock Controller - Gourmet Grocery

Position Purpose 

Responsible for ensuring that deliveries are processed efficiently and accurately, stockrooms are clean and tidy with stock being easy to locate. If applicable, oversee the Porter(s) in areas of responsibility, providing them with training, direction and development. Ensure areas of responsibility replenished to the Harrods standard before the trading day starts.

Principal Accountabilities

Maintain shop floor standards

  • Deliver stock to the department as and when required 
  • Tidy the department, ensuring Harrods standards are adhered to prior to opening for trade 
  • Bring pallets of stock from distribution to the shop floor  
  • Ticketing and re-ticketing of stock, when necessary  
  • Assist with presentation of stock, ensuring that it follows the set standards 

 

Deliveries

  • Unpack and check off new deliveries against delivery notes and deal with any discrepancies  
  • Follow through and maintain the delivery tracker to ensure that deliveries arrive on time  
  • Input and update details on the integrated software system on a regular basis 
  • Arranging couriers and preparation of required paperwork, such as delivery notes and issuing credit notes

 

Stock / Stockroom Management

  • Keep stock, stock rooms and clean and tidy 
  • Maintain the stockroom in an orderly manner 
  • Ensure all stock is ticketed and priced  
  • Coordinate stock pulls and auditing  
  • Action shop floor moves when new plans are designed  
  • Develop a thorough understanding of stock data inventory in order to carry out related tasks proficiently 
  • Assist with (annual/bi-annual) stock takes  
  • Ensure security procedures are followed in order to prevent theft 

 

Time Management

  • Responsibility for managing the role and your own time in order to meet the required deadlines. Chase required information when necessary and offer general assistance to the department 
  • People Development (if applicable) 
  • Train and develop porter(s) within areas of responsibility 

 

Other

The successful candidate must be able to: 

  • Stand/walk for extended periods of time 
  • Lift and move boxes and product within a restricted space  
  • Reach overhead, bend, squat and kneel  
  • Walk up and down stairs carrying boxes, merchandise and other items  
  • Perform stockroom maintenance e.g. sweeping and cleaning  
  • Safely lift boxes up to 20kg  
  • Work nights when necessary 

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)

  • Departmental stock takes are organised, well executed and efficient; stock and stock rooms are organised, which in turn will have a positive impact on the efficiency of department stock takes and the end results
