Our Thatcham Distribution centre is seeking an Assistant Manager to manage our drivers for trunking and big ticket orders and support Senior Management by leading the team in the efficient and smooth onward flow of goods through the supply chain providing the level of service excellence that Harrods is renowned for.

Our Distribution centre boasts a busy and effective operation that ensures our customers receive the best experience regardless of the product of their location. Our team of drivers work to carefully manage the delivery of products and work with our warehouse operations teams in managing our stock management, storage, and distribution throughout its supply chain journey. As a Assistant Manager you will be instrumental in our team’s operational delivery as a specialist you will advise on issues such as routing, legal compliance and ensuring safe delivery of goods taking into consideration cost and sustainability, working any 5 in 7 days on shift patterns between 7am-2pm and 3pm-10pm with ad hoc flexibility.

About You

You will be an experienced distribution and trunking manager, accustomed to managing operational escalations and partnering with alternative departments and external providers to ensure the effective delivery of all department KPI’s and SLA’s. You will have knowledge and experience of managing drivers’ hours and routing, specifically in big ticket stock and trunking. You will be recognised as a credible and knowledgeable manager, comfortable in addressing your peers, colleagues, 3rd parties as well as customers to ensure the smooth transition of products through a complex supply chain journey. You need a Class 1 (C + E ) HGV License to apply for this role.

What to expect

In this role you will directly support the Manager in operational running of the department, driving efficiencies and ensuring KPI’s and objectives are met. This will include documented performance monitoring, coaching and development and recruitment of the team as well as conducting annual/performance reviews. You will act as a role model for the rest of the team and actively promote and maintain Harrods Standards.
