IT Graduate

Harrods is looking for two exceptional graduates to join our IT department, working for the world famous Luxury department store! 

The Department:

Our growing IT department at Harrods is undergoing tremendous change to support our ever dynamic and fast-paced business needs. As well as vital foundation improvements, we are also investing in incorporating the latest industry technologies to enhance ur brand and customer experience.

 The Programme:

The Harrods IT Graduate programme consists of four 6-month placements, rotating across the IT department, giving you a well-rounded insight into the growing technological landscape within Harrods.

Moving around the teams you will gain valuable exposure to both the technical and non-technical areas of the department. From Project Management and Business Analysis to large scale ERP, Infrastructure and POS systems.  You will gain an in-depth understanding of how the various teams and systems function and interact. The programme will be tailored to where your interests, skills and strengths lie, allowing us to jointly identify a rewarding and sustainable career path in IT.

As a graduate coming into Harrods you will have the opportunity to attend workshops, deliver projects and gain experience in our business areas such as e-commerce, buying and distribution. This will give you an understanding of how we utilise technology to provide the customer with an exceptional in-store and online experience.

You will develop strong leadership and communication skills through both formal courses and on the job learning. Through mentoring from senior managers and tailored training you will be supported to develop your technical and professional knowledge. Applying this to the current portfolio of high profile projects and operational initiatives within Harrods will ensure that your skills are transferable and your understanding is sound.  

Candidate Characteristics:

To be successful, you will have graduated in the past 2 years with a minimum 2:1 in a relevant degree subject. You’ll be able to demonstrate the following skills:

• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• An organised and analytical approach to problem solving
• A passion and understanding of technology

Departments:

• EIM: (Enterprise Information Management)

Work with product data, customer data, and business data to ensure the highest quality and therefore the best possible customer experience.

• Application Development:

Be involved with a highly technical area with a skilled team who create and support a range of applications created from an assortment of programming languages.

• RSD: (Retail Systems Delivery)

Develop and support over 800 tills and 30 servers across the store, our key to the success of the business.

• BI: (Business Intelligence)

Work with one of our most precious assets for our Brand- data. Ensure that our stakeholders make informed and correct decisions by enabling them to access clear, presentable information through data analysis.

• DBA:

Administer, maintain, and protect the integrity of Harrods data. Work at the forefront of the action to ensure that our data is protected and looked after correctly. Using SQL server management studio our DBA’s allow Harrods to ensure

• ES:

Work within the team who look after our entire infrastructure.Be the liaiser between our company and third parties. Play your part in helping Harrods employees do their own jobs in the most efficient manner.

• Data Networks:

As a network analyst, you will work within a dynamic team who uphold and deliver quality solutions. Working with the large WAN network, you will be exposed to a multivendor environment, allowing you to work alongside many different technologies.

• Project Coordinator:

As a project coordinator, you will be working closely with stakeholders to ensure a successful delivery of a project, working with technical teams and the business.

• PMO (Portfolio Management Office):

Be involved in managing the IT portfolio of programmes and projects, ensuring that IT projects are effectively planned, implemented and tracked. You will be working closely with Project Managers, Business Relationship Managers and the Senior IT Leadership Team.

• Front Office:

Be at the forefront of our organisation, and the face of our IT department. You will be the first to be approached when our customers are facing issues. You will be the crucial link to ensuring our customers satisfaction through providing essential help and support.

• App Support:

Be part of the team who support developers and also work alongside vendor applications. Be part of the customer service operations team and provide technical assistance to our customer service advisers, and help them to deliver the world class service that Harrods prides itself on.

• BA:

Work as a liaiser between IT and the business, our BA’s support with the beginning stages of projects- gathering, creating and finalising the requirements. Their work is fundamental to delivering the success of projects.

• SAP:  (Systems Applications and Products)

As an SAP analyst, you will be responsible for maintaining our SAP system, which enables our business to help manage inventory, sales and product information.

• Enterprise Architecture:

Play your part in the design, planning and creation of defining the structure of IT environment.

• Infosec

Work within the team who are relied upon to protect Harrods customer and business data. Ensure compliance obligations are met and match the rest of the industry. Our information security team are pivotal to Harrods IT.
