We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Email Designer to join the team as maternity cover to produce and evolve Harrods email communications. As a Lead Email Designer, you will be overseeing the design, build, and continual improvement of our marketing, triggered, and lifecycle email communications.

This is a fixed-term contract until April 2024.

About the Role

In this role, you will be using your creative skills to design emails that are commercially successful, responsive, on-brand, and consistent. Drawing upon your strong technical skills, you will amend code and build HTML email templates following current industry best practice guidelines. Ensuring all email templates and designs are responsive and maximised for mobile is vital to the success of this role. You will also oversee approvals for all Harrods emails, check design and code, and lead the email design team.

You will be supporting the Creative Design Manager and leading our team of Email Designers and Developers. The role will also be working alongside the CRM, Content, and Creative departments to ensure a unified approach to providing an engaging brand experience for the customer.

About You

As a Lead Email Designer, you will be passionate about delivering creative solutions that deliver for both the user and the business. You will be an experienced people manager who is confident in giving direction, feedback, and guidance. You are an individual that remains calm under pressure, with excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver high-quality work to tight timescales.

You will also:

  • Be able to gather and work with insights through analytics, competitor analysis, and user testing to inform our email creative and design
  • Be ready to learn and understand our email user-profiles and key personas
  • Be fluent with Adobe Creative Suite (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) as well as Sketch
  • Have strong technical skills (HTML, CSS)
  • Have a good understanding of email client constraints, browsers, and accessibility guidelines

Above all, you will have a passion for design as well as a keen eye for typography and be up to date with the latest trends to be able to deliver the Harrods message through email.
