Our IT department is the dynamo of our business innovation here at Harrods and deliver invaluable support to the business and our customers to ensure the smoothest and most secure customer experience as well as an efficient and tailored business support operation. Harrods operates with an extremely complex POS environment.

With 800 tills in one location using two independent propositions (restaurant and retail) and 3 till types (fixed, SCO and mobile), making changes to software and administering configuration becomes difficult.  With the added complexity of concessions that often require an individual set up and Airports that operate independently, the landscape presents a unique challenge. Our Retail Systems Delivery teamwork specialise in delivering a functionally rich POS trading solution as well as the technical support for it. We are looking for a Retail Systems Delivery Analyst to join our team in this unique and exciting role.

About you

You’ll be experienced in working with IT, specifically within supporting POS within the retail or restaurant industry. You’ll have good analytical skills with an aptitude for problem resolution. You’ll demonstrate a wider business awareness, understanding the impact work has within overall landscape. You’ll have a sound understanding of agile and waterfall methodologies, and the impact they have on delivery. As a technical subject matter expert, you’ll require experience of supporting point of sale systems e.g. Retail Java, BTE Store 6 and enactor. Experience of SCCM interaction, ideally configuration, build and deployment knowledge as well as a demonstrable understanding of network infrastructure and other operational aspects of IT.

As well as working very closely with 3rd party suppliers you must also be able to represent POS at all business levels in both a technical and a business facing capacity.  You must be capable of translating business requirements into technical solutions.  You’ll have a strong technical background and the ability to mentor other individuals in the team drawing on experience and proven knowledge. You should be proactive and forward thinking, highlighting opportunities for cross skilling and possible migration of support tasks.

What to expect

The Retail Systems Delivery team is responsible for delivering robust and sustainable change into the EPOS and Payments arena.  This includes the analysis and deployment of software and also upgrades and patches into the live estate. The team also maintains the underlying windows based till build.

In this role you will be responsible for helping to innovate change and mitigate production support demand by developing and adopting a structured and a methodical way of working. Although the team’s focus will be the delivery of change, you will also be the 3rd line escalation point for exceptional support circumstances, otherwise dealt with by the Retail Systems Support Team. 

In a fast-paced business, you will need to readily react to changing circumstances, be dynamic, with an aptitude for picking up new concepts quickly, not afraid to challenge process and offers a pragmatic approach to complex problem solving.
