We are recruiting for a Furniture Operations Manager to join the team here at Harrods, on a Fixed Term Contract until December 2024. 

You will be responsible for the successful fulfilment of all furniture client orders from point of sale to delivery to the customer. You will work closely across a large network of stakeholders including retail management, vendors, distribution, buying and merchandising to ensure excellent customer service, order accuracy and produce financial reporting.

About the Role

You will work closely with the Buying Manager and Buyer to set the strategy for the department. You will manage a team of four, providing clear goals, objectives and coaching to ensure all KPIs are met, maximise gross margin and mitigate risk across the supply chain. 

As the Furniture Operations Manager at Harrods, your duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Accountable for the successful fulfilment of all furniture client orders from point of sale to delivery to the customer, ensuring timely order processing, managing vendor lead times and customer balances where applicable.
  • Analysing & interpreting sales figures & trends to make business decisions.
  • Supporting the Buying Manager with buying and retail projects to enhance furniture customer experience.
  • Identifying and implementing ways to improve customer journey and improve financial efficiency in Furniture. 
  • Managing vendor performance to maximise profitability & achieve financial objectives.
  • Seeking and proactively acting on feedback regarding stock issues & customer comment from retail team.
  • Working closely with the Merchandiser to produce monthly sales forecasts through the order bank and booking report analysis. 
  • Financial management with responsibility for all direct delivery and furniture services invoice sign off. Using the deposit ledger to identify financial irregularities in SOs and correct to minimize failed billings and ensure all revenue declared correctly. Running and reporting on bad debt, supporting the Furniture and Home Teams to ensure this is corrected. 

About You  
This role has two key focuses: maximising the supply chain and providing an efficient service to our customers, implementing change as needed to enhance their experience. For this reason, we are either looking for someone with a Retail, Supply Chain or Procurement background – wherever your expertise lies you will have ample experience speaking directly to customers, internal teams and vendors. You will be an excellent relationship builder and problem solver, able to bring your colleagues, team and external parties together to deliver on objectives. 

You will be an experienced people manager, able to flex your style depending on the situation or person. You will actively promote personal development amongst team and establish clear direction for them based on the divisional strategy.

You will have strong systems knowledge ideally in SAP S4Hana and AFO; with an ability to quickly learn new process.

You will also:

  • Put the customer first in every situation, success or challenge. 
  • Be an expert in Furniture processes across Fulfilment, Buying and Retail to ensure all financial controls are executed. 
  • Have ample experience with analysing & interpreting sales figures & trends to make business decisions.
  • Develop & maintain vendor relationships to ensure that Harrods is consistently presented with excellent market opportunities.
  • Be able to demonstrate their relationship capabilities, across all internal areas, particularly buying, delivery services, vendors and retail.
