Group Tax Manager

Our team is looking for a Group Tax Manager to join our Finance Division. 

The Tax Manager will take ownership of both the direct and indirect tax accounting function of the Harrods Group.

About The Role 

As the Group Tax Manager, you will be responsible for liaising with external tax advisers for corporation tax compliance work. The role also involves managing two other roles, the VAT Accountant and the Group Tax Assistant.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Reviewing all the tax returns prepared for the group by the external adviser
• Preparing the annual corporate interest restriction working
• Preparing the quarterly instalment payments workings using the latest financial forecasts
• Maintaining the accuracy of the financial postings to tax sensitive general ledger accounts and propose and implement improvements where necessary
• Reviewing and the sign off on the quarterly VAT group returns
• Achieving and maintaining a low risk assessment by HMRC in their annual Business Risk Review

About You 

With a good eye for detail, passion for figures and strong commercial acumen, you’ll already be working as a tax manager with experience in managing/supporting large organisations, ideally across both direct and indirect taxation areas. 

You will be proactive, with a “can do” attitude and able to work under pressure while being flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities. Able to challenge and influence, you will have excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels within the business: allowing you to present information in a clear, compelling way to both financial and non-financial audiences. 

You’ll also have:

• Experience within a large Tax Consultancy firm.
• Knowledge of Corporation Tax and/or VAT 
• Prior experience in commerce (be it online or retail)
• Leadership skills, either managing a direct report or a team.
• Excellent PC Literacy
