IT Industrial Placement

Harrods is looking for University undergraduates to join for a 12 month industry placement. It is an exciting opportunity to join the IT Team and gain first-hand experience of our evolving and dynamic business. As well as making key foundation improvements we are also investing in the latest industry technologies to enhance our brand and customer experience.

As part of the Industrial Placement at Harrods you will have the opportunity to deliver projects, learn technical skills and gain experience in our business through one specific area of IT, whether that be Digital, Supply Chain and Security. This will give you an understanding of how we utilise technology to provide the customer with an exceptional in-store and online experience.

About Us

Harrods’ IT comprises of a broad and tailored offering to support out our luxury store in Knightsbridge, London and our Harrods.com website, as well as our wider Retail, Sales, Buying, Distribution, Fulfilment and Corporate functions.  Our IT offering is supported by a mix of in-house technology and 3rd party partnerships, our success if defined by our integrated and united approach to a full IT operation.

About You

You’ll have a University level qualification, e.g. undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in a related field, e.g. business, economics or computer science. You’ll be competent using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Power Point). You’ll have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer focus when dealing with both internal and external parties. To make an immediate impact on the role, you’ll also have:

• Flexibility and readiness to adapt to changing priorities.
• Excellent time-management skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Document Management and organisation.
• Ability to perform duties effectively with minimum supervision and guidance.

Our promise to you

The Harrods IT Industrial Placement promises a detailed insight into one specific area of IT. Each Placement will have the opportunity to further their understanding of an area in IT and to understand each of the different teams that contribute to the overall running of that area.  Spread across 12 months, you will have the opportunity to learn from one specific area in IT whether it be Digital, Supply Chain or Security. We’ll tailor the scheme to the areas you’re interested in, provide technical and non-technical training and you’ll earn a salary of £18,000 whilst you’re doing it.

You will develop strong leadership and communication skills through both formal courses and on the job learning. Through mentoring from senior managers and tailored training you will be supported to develop your technical and professional knowledge. Applying this to the current project portfolio and operational initiatives within Harrods will ensure that your skills are transferable, and your understanding is sound.  

You will gain an in-depth understanding of how the various teams and systems function and interact. The Graduate Scheme will be tailored to where your interests, skills and strengths lie, allowing us to help you identify a rewarding and sustainable career path in IT.
