Are you an inspirational technical lead?

We are looking for a Principal .NET Developer to head up our back-end development team working on our .NET platform. You and your team will build and support highly usable, PCI compliant, accessible web applications using cutting edge technologies and tools.

Working with other areas of the Harrods.com team, you will define and deliver new features to the online trading channel, meeting agreed timescales whilst also keeping stakeholders informed of any risks or issues.

You will also develop code that is standards compliant, accessible and capable of being rendered across all major browser platforms (desktop, mobile, tablet). As a senior member of the development team, you will be expected to mentor junior developers and provide support and advice to other team members within Harrods.com.

As an expert in your field you will have relevant commercial experience and proven success within .NET development from a high volume transactional, ecommerce background. You will ideally have experience working with Microsoft SQL. Coding to Web standards and PCI compliance is also a prerequisite of this role.

Technically leading our extremely dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to work with advanced and innovative technology whilst ensuring our website is fit for growth.

Your experience should include the following:

  • Experience working within an agile environment; ideally within e-commerce
  • Excellent knowledge of coding practices including SOLID Principles, Design Patterns, TDD/BDD
  • Expertise in enterprise architecture, including layering, scalability, messaging, performance and fault tolerance
  • Expertise in ASP.NET MVC 5 and at least knowledge of ASP.NET Core MVC
  • Experience in RESTful services design using Web AP, good understanding of ASP.NET middleware
  • Expert knowledge of C#, including asynchronous development, Visual Studio and either TFS or VSTS
  • Experience with MSSQL, such as SQL queries, profiler and SSIS packages
  • Experience with Entity Framework Code First, including performance profiling
  • Experience working with Content Management Systems, ideally Umbraco
  • Knowledge of PCI compliant code security to OWASP guidelines (cross-site scripting, injection attacks etc.), with an understanding and appreciation of W3C standards and specifications, usability and accessibility
