Our sustainability team are looking for a Sustainability Executive to play a vital role in implementing our company wide Sustainability strategy, ‘Harrods Path to a Sustainable Future’.  This role will provide specific support in delivering key initiatives, in addition to supporting on communications and engagement of the strategy across the business.

The Harrods sustainability strategy includes the net zero strategy, waste and recycling programmes, packaging improvement and innovation, as well as designing the store for a more sustainable future.

About the Role

As the Sustainability Executive, your role will include group wide reporting and data collection, as well as verification in relation to energy, waste & recycling, water, packaging and store developments. You  will support on reviewing audit results and reports to create action plans for target areas whilst driving innovation.  Excitingly, you will work very closely with the key stakeholders across the engineering, facilities and operations team, integrating yourself into their business to forge a productive link between the centralised sustainability team and the functions of the business delivering against Harrods’ ambitious reduction & improvement targets.

As a keen ambassador for the team internally and externally, you will raise awareness of Harrods’ commitments through engaging stakeholders, ensuring that sustainability practices are integrated and communicated throughout the business in a positive, proactive way. 

Your role will also include overseeing the management of tools used across the business to support sustainability initiatives, such as:

  • Energy management systems.
  • Supporting on data collection to inform workstreams.
  • Supporting on wider communication to inform internal engagement on department figures and achievements.
  • Employee networks.
  • Company updates.
  • Internal communications, as well as external communications annual reports, media commentary etc.

About You

You are someone who loves and relishes data – you are proficient in Excel and can easily adapt to new data management tools. You are also keen to establish relationships and build on those continuously to build productive links – you know the benefit of a good working relationship. You are an independent self-starter, who will take initiative to identify opportunities to strengthen Harrods’ strategy and reputation. Additionally, flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities is crucial.

You will also have:

  • Experience in a similar data-driven role related to sustainability, environment reporting, legislation and compliance requirements for the retail industry.
  • Understanding of energy consumption and carbon accounting and carbon reduction pathways.
  • Strong background in data management, interpretation and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, project management skills and the ability to write engaging copy.
