This is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking team that’s passionate about delivering excellence. You’ll be at the centre of our transport operation, working with a small but mighty fleet and a close-knit team to ensure our deliveries run smoothly, compliantly and sustainably. If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real impact and be part of something special, this could be the one for you.

About the Role

In this role you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our Transport and Outbound Delivery team, ensuring that all deliveries are executed efficiently, compliantly and to the highest standards. Reporting to the Distribution Operations Manager – Transport & Facilities, you’ll lead a team of direct reports including an Assistant Manager, a Transport Compliance Trainer and four Team Leaders.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business, including Harrods Estates, Harrods International and Harrods Aviation, to ensure our fleet is operating safely and sustainably. You’ll also manage relationships with third-party delivery partners and play a key role in driving continuous improvement across the department.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a team of managers, trainers and team leaders across trunking and big ticket delivery operations.
  • Ensuring all deliveries are planned and executed in line with service levels and KPIs.
  • Managing compliance with Operator’s Licence, DVSA Earned Recognition and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Supporting the Assistant Manager and stepping in to lead the team in their absence.
  • Working closely with the Transport Compliance Trainer to maintain training standards and legal compliance.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders across multiple sites to ensure smooth and timely deliveries.
  • Managing third-party delivery providers, including monthly account reviews and performance monitoring.
  • Overseeing vehicle checks, insurance claims, and accident investigations.
  • Supporting operational delivery through KPI tracking, SOP development and budget planning.
  • Participating in the duty manager rota, including 1 in 10 weekends.
  • Being flexible with working hours, with core hours between 7am and 6pm and occasional early starts or late finishes to support the team.

As part of the team at Thatcham, you will also benefit from a heavily subsidised canteen offering breakfast, lunch, dinner and all-day snacks, local recognition schemes with £25 prizes, exclusive giveaways, and staff trips to our iconic Knightsbridge store. In addition, Harrods offers a range of company-wide benefits including 33% staff discount, subsidised medical and dental cover, discounted gym membership, and more.

About You

You will be a hands-on and forward-thinking transport professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. You’ll bring a strong understanding of transport compliance, a passion for sustainability, and the leadership skills to inspire and develop a high-performing team.

You will:

  • Hold a National Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Transport Operations.
  • Have experience managing transport operations, ideally within a smaller, agile fleet environment.
  • Be confident managing a team and stepping into different roles when needed.
  • Understand the importance of compliance and be comfortable working with DVSA and Operator’s Licence requirements.
  • Be flexible with working hours and happy to work on a rota, including early starts and occasional weekends.
  • Be confident liaising with internal stakeholders and external delivery partners.
  • Have a strong understanding of vehicle types and delivery planning.
  • Be passionate about sustainability and open to trialling new technologies and practices.
  • Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Be a clear and confident communicator, able to adapt your style to suit different audiences.
  • Be proactive, resilient and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
