Assistant Buyer - Ingredients

We are recruiting for an Assistant Buyer to join our Food Buying team here at Harrods.

This role supports our Ingredients Buying Manager in the sourcing and commercials of ingredients for our Kitchens (Production, Pastry and Restaurants). 

About the Role  

We have 27 food outlets across our Knightsbridge store, each offering a unique experience for our customers, as well as Production and Pastry kitchens in our infamous Food Hall. As the Assistant Buyer for Ingredients, you will assist in product selection, commercial negotiations and onboarding new Ingredients and Suppliers. 

This role works closely with our Chefs, Supply Chain and Retail teams to optimise the end to end life cycle of ingredients products within the business.

Your duties will include:

• Sourcing ingredients in line with our sourcing policy and brand standards, at the highest quality and best cost. 
• Supporting the buyer with leading weekly cross functional meetings with the different kitchens.  
• Working closely with supply chain and technical on availability issues.
• Supporting the Buyer with landing the restaurant strategic vision and the retail category plans.
• Support the Buyer with commercial negotiations either due to seasonality, inflation or tenders. 
• Attending supplier visits to understand the end to end supply chain and quality of ingredients being sourced. 

About You  

You will be a seasoned Assistant Buyer in the Food, Retail or Hospitality space with expert negotiation skills. We are looking for someone who has previously negotiated terms with suppliers and onboarded them seamlessly.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of how a corporate business works and be focused on building long lasting supplier relationships, all In the same of sourcing ingredients at the best price and quality.  

You will also possess:

• Good PC literacy, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. SAP knowledge preferable.
• Excellent time-management skills and the ability and willingness to multi-task.
• Effective prioritisation skills and ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility and readiness to adapt to changing priorities.
• Proactive and solutions based thinking.
