SQL Server DBA

Reporting to the Lead DBA the purpose of the SQL Server DBA is to maintain, improve and provide issue resolution in the current Harrods SQL Estate.

The Harrods DBA team work alongside a number of teams in IT including DevOps, Retail systems delivery and Application development assisting with the support of various systems, project delivery and ad hoc support.

The role will require the ability to build and maintain relationships across the business as well as manage projects, objectives, and provide appropriate updates to the lead DBA.

About Us

Harrods’ IT comprises technologies that provide services to support our luxury store in Knightsbridge, London and our Harrods.com website, as well as our wider Retail, Sales, Buying, Distribution, Fulfilment and Corporate functions. The IT services are supported by a mix of in-house technology teams and 3rd party technology partners.

About You

You’ll have previous demonstrable experience in a SQL DBA role. You’ll have Working knowledge of SQL 2014/2016/2019, along with good knowledge of T-SQL. You’ll have Working knowledge SQL HA/DR technology (WFC, Always On). You’ll have demonstrated experience in performance tuning and optimization techniques using native and third-party tools. You’ll have experience in SQL server migration on prem, along with Working knowledge of Replication.

In additional you will have experience/ knowledge in the below areas:

• Managing SQL Servers via PowerShell (Native/DBA Tools)
• Maintaining a hybrid on-premises, Azure stack, Azure public, AWS environments
• Knowledge of SQL internals, schemas, permissions and partitions
• Experience working with SSIS/SSAS/SSRS
• Experience managing Power BI
• Knowledge of MS best practices for SQL server
• Knowledge of SDLC and server landscapes consisting of Development, QA and Production environments
• Working knowledge of monitoring tools (SCOM, SQL Monitor, SolarWinds)
• Experience with SQL PAAS
