Harrod’s the world's most famous department store is looking for a talented, driven and experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to join the Digital Technology Team. You will be leading your team in the DevOps way of working and encouraged to influence the wider team by strong inter and cross team collaboration.

The Harrods DevOps team play a key role as they are responsible for the support and overall service of all production and non-production application environments across the digital estate, as well as ownership and management of all associated deployment pipelines.

About you

The successor of this opportunity will be a talented DevOps specialist with hands-on experience in cloud technologies, deploying highly scalable and resilient applications. You will have demonstrable experience in automation, as well as website and mobile application monitoring and performance tooling including RUM and Synthetic. You will have enterprise operations experience in a digital or retail environment and accustomed to working with release and deployment tooling.

You will be a natural problem-solver, able to diagnose complex technical issues and propose solutions. You will have ITIL or ISO27001 and be adept to working with agile, SCRUM or Kanban methodology. You will be accountable to lead daily stand ups and head up weekly planning meetings and distribute the work to meet our deadlines and ultimate collective delivery and company goals. You will have a keen eye for detail and a passion for challenging the status quo, capable of implementing and Managing CDN and website performance optimisations. Knowledge of scripting languages and Application security & OWASP Guidelines will be required in this role, as will database maintenance, administration, and performance optimisation concepts.

As the Lead DevOps Engineer you will lead all day-to-day operational activities while working hands on alongside the team. You will need to be confident in implementing new ways of working directly within your team and by gaining the support of other areas. Additionally, working closely with the other functions within Digital Technology you will be aligned with the overall development lifecycle to support the delivery of new functionality/projects in the most effective way possible.

You will need to collaborate with a variety of different teams across the Harrods business, including the wider IT function, plus a range of third-party technology partners to ensure that the team delivers seamless service.

At all times you will need to ensure that monitoring, security, and any performance implications are considered and that the correct measures are put in place to detect problems at the earliest opportunity. You will also drive proactive work to ensure that the team working preventatively to optimise and continuously improve the solutions.
